7th All India Cotton Conference 2026 to Convene in Coimbatore
The Indian Cotton Federation (ICF), in association with ICAL, Bathinda, will host the 7th Biennial All India Cotton Conference 2026 on 21 and 22 August 2026 at Hotel Le Méridien, Coimbatore. With more than 450 delegates already registered, the two-day conference is expected to bring together stakeholders from India and overseas to discuss the future of cotton and its evolving role in the global textile industry.
Global Cotton Community to Meet in Coimbatore
The conference will bring together cotton farmers, ginners, agents, traders, spinners, textile manufacturers, machinery manufacturers, policymakers, technology providers and international cotton experts on a common platform.
The event will be attended by Chief Guest Shri Lalit Kumar Gupta, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Cotton Corporation of India (CCI). The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, will be represented by Shri Purnesh Gururani, Director (Fibre) and Shri Sourabh Kulkarni, Joint Textile Commissioner (Cotton).
The participation of senior government and industry representatives is expected to facilitate discussions on policy, market competitiveness, quality standards and the future growth of India’s cotton and textile sector.
Cotton as the Sustainable Fibre of the Future
The theme of this year’s conference, “Cotton – The Sustainable Fibre of the Future,” reflects the industry’s growing focus on sustainability, transparency and responsible sourcing.
As international brands and consumers increasingly seek traceable and responsibly produced materials, cotton is evolving from a conventional raw material into a fibre with greater emphasis on value addition, provenance, sustainability and environmental responsibility.
With one of the world’s largest cotton-growing areas and an extensive textile ecosystem spanning farming, ginning, trading, spinning, weaving, processing and garmenting, India has significant potential to strengthen its position in global cotton and textile markets.
Focus on the Entire Cotton Value Chain
The conference programme will examine developments across the cotton-to-textile value chain, with sessions covering global cotton demand and supply, 2026-27 crop prospects, the future of spinning, cotton pricing and policy, sustainability, provenance and traceability, artificial intelligence, market intelligence and India’s position in the global textile industry.
Discussions will also explore how Indian cotton businesses can adapt to changing requirements in international markets while improving competitiveness and creating greater value across the supply chain.
Technology and AI in Cotton
Technology and innovation will form an important part of the conference agenda. Artificial intelligence, data analytics, digital platforms and traceability technologies are increasingly influencing how cotton is produced, traded, processed and consumed.
The conference will examine how these technologies can help businesses improve operational efficiency, transparency, quality control and decision-making across the cotton value chain.
Sustainability and Traceability
Sustainability is expected to remain a central theme, particularly as global markets place greater importance on responsible sourcing. Demonstrating the quality, provenance and traceability of cotton from farm to finished product could provide India with an opportunity to differentiate its fibre and strengthen its presence in international textile markets.
The conference will also provide a platform for government and industry stakeholders to discuss issues including cotton policy, imports, minimum support price (MSP), market competitiveness, quality standards and textile exports.
Strengthening India’s Cotton Growth Story
India’s extensive cotton and textile ecosystem provides a strong foundation for future export growth. However, greater competitiveness and global alignment across the entire value chain will be essential to translating this scale into higher value creation.
The organisers believe that the next phase of India’s cotton industry will be shaped by collaboration, innovation, sustainability and value addition. The two-day conference is expected to facilitate knowledge exchange, business networking and discussions around practical opportunities for the sector.
As global textile markets increasingly seek sustainable fibres, the conference aims to highlight how Indian cotton can contribute to the country’s broader textile growth ambitions.
