On Saturday, there were reports of a MINOR (level one) fire at a few street-side stores near the well-known shopping centre on Fashion Street on Mahatma Gandhi Road in Churchgate. According to fire officials, the fire completely destroyed 25 stores that sold clothing, footwear, and accessories. However, the event did not result in any recorded injuries.

The fire was put out by the Fire Brigade in 15 minutes after it was started at 1.02 pm. Locals reported to the Fire Brigade officials that a short circuit in one of the stores caused the fire to start there and swiftly spread to others.

Sanjay Manjrekar, chief fire officer, stated that the fire department will need to conduct an investigation to ascertain the fire’s origin. Due to the monsoon season’s widespread use of tarpaulin sheets on the rooftops of all the shops, it spread swiftly. Additionally, the clothing and synthetic footwear goods shown in the stores made it worse.
