2023’s Top Fashion House Creative Directors

Seán McGirr (Alexander McQueen)

With his recent appointment as creative director at Alexander McQueen, Irish-born designer Seán McGirr has been the talk of the fashion world. His hiring came after the legendary Sarah Burton stepped down from the company after an unprecedented 26 years of service. McGirr’s design skills have left an unmistakable stamp on JW Anderson and Dries Van Noten, Burberry, and Uniqlo, among other fashion titans. Seán McGirr has taken the helm at Alexander McQueen and has big plans for the company’s future.

Sabato De Sarno (Gucci).

Two months ago, the fashion industry was rocked by the unexpected departure of Alessandro Michele, the creative force behind Gucci’s stunning resurgence. Gucci promoted Sabato De Sarno to replace him because he brought a new point of view to the company. De Sarno joined Valentino in 2009 after working previously for Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. She was born in Naples, Italy. Gucci entered an exciting new era with the launch of De Sarno’s collection, which was shown at Milan Fashion Week in September of this year.

Harris Reed (Nina Ricci)

At age 26, Harris Reed made history when he was appointed creative director of Nina Ricci, a prestigious fashion business. Harris Reed is a force to be reckoned with, and with his flowing blond hair and demure demeanour, he frames his focused gaze. His designs concentrate on the user and emphasise gender flexibility and acceptance. His designs have been worn by celebrities like Iman, Emma Watson, Harry Styles, and Lil Nas X.

Daniel Lee (Burberry)

In 2022, Burberry welcomed a new era of flair and creativity, announcing that Daniel Lee had been named Chief Creative Officer. Englishman Daniel, 37, adds a lot of expertise and originality as a fashion designer to the storied British label. With his new position at Burberry, Daniel is responsible for all collections and even debuted at London Fashion Week in February 2023. Under his artistic direction, Burberry will continue to grow and flourish, expanding upon the brand’s rich history and continuing Riccardo Tisci’s legacy.
